Career

The business dictionary holds what could be considered to be the most elaborate and articulate definition of what a career is:

“Career is the progress and actions taken by a person throughout a lifetime, especially those related to that person’s occupations. A career is often composed of the jobs held, titles earned and work accomplished over a long period of time, rather than just referring to one position.”

Often used interchangeably by people referring to their individual jobs, there has often been a lot of confusion about whether there were any differences to begin with. However, as can be seen in the example above, there’s a clear distinction between discrete job positions and actually developing a career that encompasses all that, yet entails even more.

Besides taking jobs and titular achievements into consideration, career deals with an individual’s overall progress through life by observing what that person’s learned, done, and performed throughout their lifetime.
